Summary:
Situated in South East Asia, Singapore is a large, cosmopolitan city and one of the World’s leading financial centres. Renowned for having a very diverse population, Singapore is also a very clean country – its residence having extremely high standards of living.
Singapore experienced a difficult 2009 period, in which their economy experienced negative growth. This has changed, and they can now happily declare themselves the fastest growing economy in the world, with 17.9% GDP growth in the first half of 2010.
Costs of living in Singapore are quite high – rental prices are comparable to London, however food is cheap (and good!) and their transport system is regarded as one of the most efficient in Asia.
Although a vibrant city with great night life and towering sky scrapers, Singapore is much more laid back in comparison to Hong Kong – it provides excellent shopping, and ample green space (parks, gardens etc).
